    Towards industry 4.0

La rénovation et modernisation des matériels roulants

In 2018, TI embarked on a far-reaching transformation study with the ambition of "becoming a benchmark mobility industrialist while preserving the planet". The first two stages of the project will be completed during 2025.

This approach is fully in line with the strategy of SNCF Voyageurs' Equipment Division, which has been working since 2015 to bring its 10 industrial technicenters up to the highest standards of Industry 4.0. The Bischheim industrial technicenter is benefiting from this to become more versatile, flexible and agile, in response to changing markets and the new demands of its customers.

A transformation based on two major pillars

    • The creation of two new spaces

A 10,000 m² workshop for rolling stock and a 900 m² workshop dedicated to lifting.

    • Modernizing our industrial facilities

Thanks to new facilities and optimized processes, the technical center is now able to diversify its offering, handling electric, thermal and dual-mode equipment, as well as machines up to 27.5 meters in length.

    A metamorphosis to enhance performance

The industrial metamorphosis of SNCF Voyageurs' Alsace site reflects a dual ambition:

    • Modernize the site to make it more economical by optimizing the use of space and reducing transit times. The aim is to deliver to customers more quickly, while meeting our commitments in terms of quality and costs.
    • Adapt to future customer demands, particularly those of TERs, with a full order book until 2030, while evolving on a site historically dedicated to high-speed trains.

The physical evolution of the industrial technical center thus guarantees greater responsiveness and optimum flexibility in the face of growing market needs.

    SNCF Voyageurs, an industrial player

With an investment of 50 million euros in the transformation of the Bischheim industrial technicenter, SNCF Voyageurs is demonstrating its ambition for the rail maintenance of tomorrow, through a versatile, human, competitive and agile project, in order to maintain its position as leader in industrial rail maintenance.
