Sustainable Transition Report 2023

Because we are proud to have 67,000 employees. The challenge we have been facing for the past two decades – climate change – is a global one: it affects us all and can only be tackled collectively.

Today, the time for transformation is over; we must step up the pace and take action. Just as we travel from point A to point B by train. Just as our train drivers, through eco-driving, can reduce our traction energy consumption by 9 per cent. And there are plenty of examples like this one that we invite you to discover as you leaf through our Sustainable Transition Report 2022–2023.

We have also decided to devolve CSR responsibilities to the local level, notably through the establishment of a funding scheme enabling our establishments to undertake renovation and adaptation work to accelerate their environmental transition. From €5 million in 2022, we have doubled this amount in 2023, given the sheer number of initiatives.

As far as our customers are concerned, we continue to reaffirm, time and time again, that the train is THE carbon-free transport solution par excellence, and are rolling out a host of initiatives and services to make it ever more accessible to all, thereby helping to achieve the targets set out by France in its National Low-Carbon Strategy (SNBC). There is no greater mission than to offer people the freedom to travel whilst protecting the planet, and to reconcile eco-friendly mobility with economic development, access to employment and healthcare, and the appeal of regions to tourists.
