    To remember

You simply need to be able to carry all your luggage yourself at once.

    Travel with suitcases

You can take up to 2 pieces of luggage per person, labelled to a maximum size of 70 x 90 x 50 cm (suitcase, large backpack, hiking bag, sports bag) and 1 piece of hand luggage labelled to a maximum size of 40 x 30 x 15 cm (backpack, shopping bag, computer bag).

    Travel with special luggage

You can take up to 1 item of baggage per person, labelled to a maximum size of 70 x 90 x 50 cm (suitcase, large backpack, hiking bag, sports bag), 1 item of special baggage labelled to a maximum size of 90 x 130 x 50 cm (baby carriage, folded scooter, musical instrument in labeled case, pair of skis in labeled cover, waterboard or snowboard in labeled cover, folding wheelchair) and 1 piece of labeled carry-on baggage, maximum dimensions 40 x 30 x 15 cm (backpack, shopping bag, computer bag).

    Details on special baggage

You can take your stroller with you, provided it is folded (maximum 90 x 130 x 50 cm when folded).

For safety reasons, the stroller must be stored in a baggage area and not left on the platforms or in the passageway.

You can take your scooter with you, whether electric or not, as long as it is folded (maximum 90 x 130 x 50 cm when folded).

For safety reasons, scooters must be stored in the baggage racks and not above passengers' heads.

It is forbidden to charge the batteries of electric scooters and electric unicycles on board INTERCITÉS trains.

You can take your skis with you, as long as they're carried in a specially-labelled bag.

There is no size limit for skis, but each traveler can only take one pair.

You can take your wakeboard or snowboard with you, as long as it's carried in a specially-labelled bag measuring a maximum of 90 x 130 x 50 cm.

You can take your musical instrument with you, as long as it's carried in a specially-labeled case (preferably rigid) measuring no more than 90 x 130 x 50 cm.

Equipment used by the disabled person during the trip is not considered as luggage.

However, any additional equipment used by the disabled person (crutches or cane or walker or oxygen tank or folded wheelchair...) is considered as luggage and must measure a maximum of 90 x 130 x 50 cm.

However, there is an exception for wheelchairs on INTERCITÉS de Nuit trains. On these trains, the aisles and platforms are too narrow to allow wheelchairs to circulate, or to store an unfolded wheelchair.

For further details, please consult the PRM equipment and luggage page.

    Travel with your bike

You must reserve a place for your bike when you buy your train ticket.

    • The cost is €10 per bike per journey on daytime INTERCITÉS (Paris-Limoges-Toulouse, Paris-Clermont-Ferrand, Bordeaux-Marseille) or night-time INTERCITÉS (Paris-Briançon, Paris-Nice, Paris-Cerbère, Paris-Toulouse-Matabiau, Paris-Tarbes).
    • On INTERCITÉS lines Toulouse-Hendaye, Nantes-Lyon, Nantes-Bordeaux and Nancy-Lyon, the cost is €5 per bike per journey.
    • On the INTERCITÉS Clermont-Béziers line, bike transport is free and requires no reservation.

If you're traveling with an unmounted, unfolded bicycle, you can take up to 1 piece of labeled luggage per person, with maximum dimensions of 70 x 90 x 50 cm (suitcase, large backpack, hiking bag, sports bag), 1 labeled double bicycle bag and 1 piece of labeled carry-on luggage with maximum dimensions of 40 x 30 x 15 cm (backpack, shopping bag, computer bag).

If you travel with a folded or disassembled bicycle in a bag, you may take up to 1 folded or disassembled bicycle per person in a labelled bag with maximum dimensions of 90 x 130 cm, 1 labelled double bicycle bag and 1 labelled piece of hand luggage with maximum dimensions of 40 x 30 x 15 cm (backpack, shopping bag, computer bag). Not all bicycles are accepted on INTERCITÉS trains.

Not all bicycles are accepted on INTERCITÉS trains: recumbents, tricycles, tandems, cargo bikes, longtails and trailers are not allowed.

To reserve or not to reserve?

Reserving a seat for an unmounted bike is compulsory on all INTERCITÉS trains (except the Clermont-Béziers line). If your search returns no results at the time of booking, this means that there are no more places available for your bike. Folded or dismantled, stored in a bag (maximum 130 x 90 cm), it doesn't need a reserved space.

Failure to comply with the baggage policy on board INTERCITÉS trains may result in the payment of a minimum of €50 per item of non-conforming or excess baggage (maximum €150).

    Luggage storage

    • Your cabin luggage or other small bags: place them at your feet, under your seat or above your seat.
    • Your other luggage: leave it at the entrance or in the center of your car, as well as in the free spaces on the floor between certain seats, back-to-back.

    Luggage, yes! Bulky items, no!

To ensure the smooth flow of traffic and the safety of all passengers (particularly in the event of fire, evacuation, on-board medical care, etc.), please do not obstruct train corridors and access doors with your luggage and personal belongings.

    Responsible travel

If you obstruct traffic in the corridors or improperly occupy a seat or luggage space, you are liable to a fine of €150.
