    SNCF Voyageurs is rolling out a shock campaign to raise awareness of the importance of respect, both in stations and on board trains. The campaign is part of an effort to support our agents by denouncing the violent comments and gestures they encounter on a daily basis, and reminding them of the penalties incurred.

    Every day, more than 15 agents are victims of insults, threats and violence.SNCF Voyageurs calls for respect for its agents and passengers.

    Every day, more than 15 SNCF Voyageurs agents are victims of verbal or physical abuse.

    Every day, that's :

    • 9 agents insulted
    • 4 agents threatened
    • 2 victims of intentional violence

    65% of victims are ticket inspectors and 35% are station agents.

    Insults, threats, violence: what are the differences? What does the law say? We explain.

    Contempt refers to words or gestures that offend the dignity of an agent (insulting or defamatory words). It is punishable by a €7,500 fine and 6 months' imprisonment under Article L.2242-7 of the French Transport Code.

    A threat is the expression of the possibility or intention of harming property or an SNCF Voyageurs agent. In the case of a threat to commit a crime or misdemeanor, the penalty is a fine of up to €45,000 and 3 years' imprisonment. In the case of a threat to kill, the penalty is a fine of up to €75,000 and 5 years' imprisonment , in accordance withArticle 222-13 4°bis of the French Penal Code.

    Intentional violence is an act or behavior likely to cause physical or psychological harm. It is punishable by a minimum* of 3 years' imprisonment and a €45,000 fine.

    *Increased penalties are directly linked to the harm caused to the victim. Article 222-13 4° bis of the French Penal Code.
